How to Keep Your Skin Healthy During Quarantine

May 31, 2020 | skincare |

In November of 2019, I attended a 3-day business conference in South Carolina. Many top business leaders were there. The one recurring theme was that the economy has been far too good for far too long. You need to expect 2020 to not go as the last several years have gone. If you think your business can’t be affected, ask Blockbuster.

A few things came to mind: first off, I don’t buy into the fear. Second, I am very good at pivoting and making things work. What could possibly happen that would threaten my business?

How Quickly Things Change

Fast forward 4 short months and it doesn’t even feel like the same world. What could happen? A global pandemic. A microscopic virus could close us, and that it did on March 20, 2020. I remember the fear that sank in my stomach when the Governor announced that at 5 pm, we needed to close for an undetermined amount of time.

I was in shock for several days.

I put things into place like facial kits and at-home self-care kits. I thought I was really innovating and pivoting fast. Fast forward 7 weeks and we are still closed, yet still somehow in business. I have been amazed at how many people, who I have cared for via facials, waxings, enzyme treatments, etc., are now caring for me via buying products, facial kits, and just reaching out to see how I am doing. I have never felt more supported and more loved than I have in the past 7 weeks.

Skin Care and Social Distancing

So, what can you do at home to care for your skin during Covid-19?  First off, keep your skincare regimen up as much as possible. Regular, twice a day cleansing, pH balancing and hydrating the skin is so important.

With face mask covering comes dry irritated skin, and I have also seen some clients who have bruised skin from those N95 masks. For that, I recommend Love Your Face Skincare’s Immuno Boost. The beta-glucan in Immuno Boost has immune-enhancing capabilities, and beta-glucan uses macrophages to speed up wound healing. What are macrophages? Macrophages are scavenger cells that essentially search for and destroy pathogens. They also lower infection rates and significantly soothe the skin by reducing inflammation.

Another way to keep up your self-care while staying inside is to use a face mask once a week. I recommend using Love Your Face Skincare’s Damage Control Powder and Damage Control Gel. When combined, these two are a mini enzyme treatment for at-home use. The two-part mask gets mixed and applied to the skin, and it uses transfer messenger enzymes. Enzymes are live substances that work to regulate health and interact with minerals in the body to form a natural system of antioxidants to fight corrosive free radicals. They can remove dead protein, toxins, and gases from the epidermis using a process called ‘reverse osmosis’.

See why we named it Damage Control?

Using this mask gives your skin a fighting chance, and you’re forced to relax while this mask is on the skin. Relaxation and beautiful skin? Sign me up!

These aren’t just great tips for quarantine; these are amazing habits for beautiful skin year-round. Most of my clients practice these skincare habits every day. And if you haven’t gotten an in-spa treatment, stop by Tosa Wellness for assistance.
